Big Rivers Customers to Receive Credits

File

Big Rivers Electric customers can expect credits on their utility bills.

Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, Big Rivers Electric Corporation, and Kentucky Industrial Utilities Customers announced a settlement that will return $13.3 million in bill credits to Big Rivers’ customers.

Multiple news outlets say the deal resulted from modifications to Big Rivers’ Member Rate Stability Mechanism Tariff, which allows the company to return revenues to customers in the form of bill credits.

The average credit for residential customers will amount to about $47 a year or about $4 a month.

Attorney General Cameron applauded Big Rivers’ efforts to pursue a modified tariff that returns more money to Kentuckians and allows the company to continue rehabilitating its credit.

He said it will provide long-term benefits and savings for utility customers.
