For the first time, Henderson County Democrats will be led by a woman.

The Henderson County Democratic Executive Committee has elected 24-year-old Kaycee Garner as its leader.

In a release, the party says Garner is a native of Henderson and the daughter of Steve and Pam Garner – both longtime educators.

She will begin work on a master’s degree in social work at the University of Southern Indiana this fall.

Other new committee members include Vice Chair Alex Caudill and Secretary Velvet Dowdy.
