Friday Dashboard: Vanderburgh COVID Cases Jump by 37; Vaccinations Top 72,500

Vanderburgh County has seen a jump in COVID-19 infections. 

The Indiana Department of Health counted 37 new infections in the county, the biggest increase in several weeks.

On a positive note, the state agency reported no new COVID-related deaths in Vanderburgh or surrounding counties.

More than 340 Vanderburgh County residents joined the ranks of fully vaccinated, raising the total above 72,500.

Vanderburgh’s seven-day positivity rate for individuals improved slightly to 6.6 percent.

Across southwest Indiana, the number of hospitalized COVID patients rose by six to 37 in the 12-county region.

Statewide, Indiana tallied 22 more fatalities and about 800 new infections with a seven-day positivity rate of 10.6 percent.

In western Kentucky, the Green River District reported 20 new cases but no new fatalities in the seven-county district.

A dozen COVID patients were in the hospital.
