CenterPoint Energy is offering a new service to its customers.
Coming home from work or worse, from a few days away to find that the lights won’t turn on and the AC isn’t running can be frustrating especially if you aren’t sure how long the power has been out. Now, CenterPoint Energy has launched a notification system that will help answer the question, do I need to throw out everything in my fridge?
It’s called the Power Alert Service. Customers will receive a text message when their power goes out along with information about when it may be restored. The service will send progress updates and a confirmation when the power comes back on.
Customers who already have already activated online CenterPoint accounts will automatically be signed up for the texts. Users have the option to add others to the notification system – like a neighbor or relative.
