Seminary Gets Grant to Fight Science Misinformation

saintmeinard.org

Science will be taught alongside theology at St. Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology soon.

Saying they need to help seminary graduates battle distrust in science among parishoners, Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology officials announced a $75,000 grant from the American Association for the Advancement of Science Thursday.

Under the Science for Seminaries project, the St. Meinrad faculty will incorporate science into their theology coursework.

According to a release, the St. Meinrad project  is called “The Gospel of Jesus Christ in Big History” and integrates science into several courses in the master’s degree curriculum.

Funding will go for research materials and conference participation. St. Meinrad plans to host a campus-wide public event in the spring of 2022 that will feature lectures of science and theology speakers, roundtable discussions and workshops.
