Congressman Larry Bucshon announced the 2021 winners of the 8th District Congressional Art Competition.

It’s part of a nationwide visual art competition to recognize the artistic endeavors of high schoolers.

The 1st Place Overall winner was Louis Duncan, with his oil painting titled “The Garland of Alaska”. Duncan is a Senior at Evansville North High School, and will receive a roundtrip ticket to Washington, D.C. for the Congressional Art Competition Reception. He will also have his artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building for a year.

The People’s Choice Award winner was Kenzie Knepp, with her colored pencil and ink drawing titled “Blossoming”.  Knepp is a senior at Washington High School and had nearly 600 likes, shares, and comments on Congressman Bucshon’s official Facebook page.

The pieces were chosen among 46 submissions across Indiana’s 8th District.

In a release, Bucshon thanked the nearly 40 students who took part in the Congressional Art Competition.
