Evansville leaders are reviewing Governor Eric Holcomb’s latest direction in the fight against COVID-19.
Mayor Lloyd Winnecke met with the local Medical Advisory Group Wednesday morning to review the governor’s plans -- which include dropping the state’s mask mandate for a mask advisory.
The plan will also do away with limitations on crowd sizes but will keep the state’s public health emergency declaration in place through April.
Holcomb said that will allow the state to act if cases take a turn for the worse. It also ensures Indiana still receives federal relief.
In a release, city spokesman Noah Stubbs said Mayor Winnecke will continue to confer with local medical professionals and government leaders to assess the state’s directives and their impact on the community.
Winnecke is scheduled to provide a COVID-19 update to the public on Tuesday, March 30th.
