No New Local COVID Deaths, Infections Up Slightly

The state has released another mostly positive COVID-19 report for southwestern Indiana. 

The Indiana State Department of Health added no COVID-related deaths in Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey, Gibson, Pike, Dubois, or Spencer counties.

Vanderburgh did see an increase in new infections, 18, while Gibson added 19 cases.

The rest of the area counties saw single-digit increases.

Vanderburgh’s seven-day positivity rate was up a bit to 3.2 percent.

The state reported an increase of 14 hospitalized COVID patients in the 12-county district of southwest Indiana – raising the total to 51.

In December, hospitalizations were close to 300.

Across Indiana, the agency added 16 COVID-related deaths and more than 900 new infections on the Wednesday dashboard.

In western Kentucky, the Green River District Health Department recorded one new fatality in Ohio County and 25 new infections in the seven-county district.
