New Giraffe at Mesker Zoo

Mesker Zoo

Mesker Zoo has a new resident- a very tall one.

Mesker Zoo officials announced the arrival of Kijana, a Reticulated Giraffe in a release Friday.

Kijana is three years old and came from the Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek, Michigan. According to Mesker officials, Kijana shares the African Rift exhibit with Clementine, who is about the same age, and two zebras.

Because giraffes are herd animals, Mesker officials began looking for another giraffe to be housed with Clementine following the death of 29 year old Kiah last fall.
