The state has released more encouraging numbers for southwest Indiana in the battle against COVID-19.

The Indiana Department of Health reported no new COVID-related deaths in Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey, Gibson, Pike, Spencer, or Dubois counties.

The agency also recorded the lowest number of new infections in Vanderburgh County in recent months, 13, with the seven-day positivity rate down to 6.3 percent.

Statewide, just 20 new COVID-related deaths were tallied with less than 1,000 new infections.

In western Kentucky, the Green River District Health Department recorded one new COVID fatality in Union County, but just 51 new infections in the seven-county district.
