Winter Storm Thursday Update

The Tri-State is waking up to an icy Thursday.

A walk across the front lawn says it all Thursday morning. A tenth of an inch or more of ice is coating every outside surface. Walking is tricky...and crunchy.

Traffic is moving pretty well on main roads in Evansville, but outside of the city, conditions are still treacherous.

Already this morning, Sergeant Todd Ringle with the Indiana State Police is tweeting about slide offs on I-64 east of Evansville. He says interstates are partially clear with numerous slick spots.

Western Kentucky got the worst of the ice from this storm.  Numerous slide offs  and accidents, along with downed trees and power lines kept emergency crews busy Wednesday evening. The Audubon Parkway was closed for a time because of an accident that brought power lines down on the highway.

Some minor additional ice accumulation is possible Thursday, especially in western Kentucky. Perhaps the best advice is that if you don’t have to go out, put on a pot of coffee…..and stay home..
