COVID Deaths Rising; Hospitalizations Down

The COVID-19 death toll continues to climb in southwest Indiana and western Kentucky.

The Indiana Department of Health added three COVID-related deaths in Warrick County, two in Spencer County, one in Vanderburgh County, and one in Dubois County.

Vanderburgh also saw a triple-digit increase in infections, 116, on the Wednesday dashboard.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients continued to fall, down 16 to 142 in the 12-county district of southwest Indiana.

Statewide, Indiana added 40 COVID-related deaths and more than 2,200 new infections.

The Green River District Health Department recorded five new fatalities in its seven-county region, including one from Henderson County, one from Daviess County, one from Webster County, and two from Ohio County.

The department also added 182 infections with 53 COVID patients in the hospital.
