The COVID-19 death toll has risen again in southwest Indiana and western Kentucky.
The Indiana Department of Health added five more COVID-related deaths in Vanderburgh County, raising the county’s pandemic toll to 255.
The agency reported one new fatality in Gibson County and another in Dubois County.
No new COVID-related deaths were tallied in Warrick or Posey counties.
Vanderburgh County saw a second straight day of fewer than 100 new infections, 71.
The number of hospitalized COVID patients continued to fall in southwest Indiana, down 18 to 158 in the 12-county region.
Intensive care bed availability improved to nearly 40 percent.
Statewide, the agency added 80 more COVID-related deaths with fewer than 1,800 new infections.
The Green River District Health Department counted 10 new fatalities in its seven-county district, three of them from Daviess County, two from Henderson County, and five from Ohio County.
The department reported 260 new infections, with 55 COVID patients in the hospital.
