The COVID-19 death toll continues to climb in Vanderburgh and Daviess counties.
The Indiana State Department of Health raised Vanderburgh’s pandemic death toll by 1 to 212, and reported 176 new COVID cases.
The county’s seven-day positivity rate dropped to just below 16 percent.
No new COVID-related deaths were recorded in Warrick, Posey, or Gibson counties on the Friday dashboard.
The number of COVID patients in the hospital across southwest Indiana jumped by 30 to 271.
The percentage of available intensive care beds slipped below 20 percent in the 12-county region.
Statewide, Indiana reported 42 new COVID-related deaths and more than 4,700 new infections.
In western Kentucky, the Green River District Health Department announced two more fatalities in Daviess County, raising the county’s death toll to 118.
The agency reported more than 200 new infections in the seven-county district.
