One event that wasn’t adversely affected by the pandemic was Ritzy’s Fantasy of Lights.
Volunteers dismantled and removed the light displays in Evansville’s Garvin Park over the weekend, following the record-setting event.
On its website, the Easterseals Rehabilitation Center estimated the 27th annual light show raised more than $240,000.
The center said more than 17,000 vehicles -- including horse-drawn carriages -- drove through this year’s display.
That’s 6,000 more than in 2019.
Easterseals estimates this year’s proceeds will help underwrite as many as 4,800 therapy sessions for local children and adults with disabilities who otherwise couldn’t afford the services.
Easterseals said the COVID-19 pandemic forced the group to cancel or scale back several fundraisers in recent months.
The non-profit said the community’s “exceptional support” of Ritzy’s Fantasy of Lights will help offset some of that deficit.
