The faculty at the University of Evansville has once again sided with faculty leaders who want input into the school’s entire realignment plan. That’s a day after the board of trustees told the faculty they’re not interested.
In a release Thursday afternoon from the UE chapter of the American Association of University Professors, the group announced that the faculty senate proposal we reported on last week to give more faculty input into the entire realignment process for the school was approved by a vote of the full faculty.
However, UE trustees didn’t wait for the faculty vote. They sent an email to faculty Wednesday saying they see no value in having faculty input on anything other than academic matters.
According to faculty sources, there hasn’t been a great deal of reaching out by UE administrators for that academic input and time is getting short. UE President Christopher Pietruszkiewicz has said he wants the academic realignment plan finalized by the end of this month.
So far, Pietruszkiewicz has declined an interview request from WNIN on the realignment plan.
