The COVID-19 death toll continues to climb in Daviess, Henderson, and Dubois counties.
The Green River District Health Department announced seven new COVID-related deaths in Daviess County and one in Henderson County.
The department also tallied a single-day record 421 new infections in the seven-county region with 47 COVID patients hospitalized.
The district reported 21 COVID-related fatalities last week.
The Indiana State Department of Health announced two more fatalities in Dubois County, raising the county’s pandemic death toll to 61.
Dubois also saw 70 new infections on the Monday dashboard.
The state agency reported no new COVID-related deaths in Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey, or Gibson counties.
Vanderburgh did see 167 new infections and a seven-day positivity rate of 16.5 percent.
The number of hospitalized COVID patients in southwest Indiana rose to 264 while the percentage of available intensive care beds improved to 24.5 percent across the 12-county region.
Statewide, Indiana saw 39 new COVID-related deaths and more than 3,600 new infections.
