The COVID-19 death toll in Vanderburgh County has reached 200.
The Indiana State Department of Health announced two new COVID-related deaths in Vanderburgh, raising the county’s toll to 200 since the first local death was confirmed in April.
The county also set a single-day record for new infections on the Thursday dashboard, 318.
New COVID-related fatalities were also reported in Gibson and Dubois counties.
Across southwest Indiana, the number of hospitalized COVID patients rose by nine to 268, with the percentage of available intensive care beds at about 13 percent in the 12-county region.
Statewide, Indiana’s death toll rose by 99 to surpass 7,900 since March. New infections rose by more than 6,500.
In western Kentucky, the Green River District Health Department announced two new fatalities in Daviess County and one in Henderson County.
187 new infections were reported in the seven-county district, with 45 COVID patients in the hospital.
