Located in an area with deep European roots, you might expect to see some holiday decorations and
displays, but the Santa collection at the Dubois County Museum in Jasper numbers in the four figures.
It includes locked cabinets filled with expensive Hummel figurine Santas and a display that is entirely kitchen and food related Santa figurines.
One display that has become a holiday tradition at the Dubois County Museum is the Festival of Trees. This year, fifteen Dubois County communities have decorated trees with scenes that showcase their unique cultures and histories. You can pretty much learn the history of Dubois County, right in this room.
It’s a lot to take in. When you get up close and examine each tree, you see the community’s pride and sometimes, its pain displayed in the decorations chosen to tell the story.
You can check out the museum’s hours and other information on their website.
