National foundations will double your contribution to support high quality local news in Evansville, but only until Dec. 31st! Please make a contribution today to keep local news strong in our community.

In a special statement, the National Weather Service says a light wintry mix is expected to begin late tonight over portions of southern Illinois and southwest Indiana.

Forecasters say the mix of rain and snow could last into the morning commute.

The weather service says surface and ground temperatures will be at or above freezing, but precipitation rates may be strong enough to create scattered slick spots, especially on bridges and other elevated roadways.

Forecasters say the best chance for slippery conditions will be along and north of I-64.

Snow accumulation in the Evansville area is forecast to be a half-inch or less.
