COVID Death Toll Climbs in Vanderburgh, Posey, and Union Counties

Vanderburgh’s COVID death toll climbed to 137, while Posey’s reached 22.

The Indiana State Department of Health tallied 96 new infections in Vanderburgh County, a break from recent days of triple-digit increases. 

No new COVID-related deaths were recorded in Warrick or Gibson counties.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients in southwest Indiana fell to 263 but the percentage of available intensive care beds in the 12-county region dropped below 13 percent.

Statewide, the agency reported 60 new fatalities and more than 8,500 new infections on its Thursday dashboard.

The Green River District Health Department announced the two fatalities in Union County, along with a single-day record of 228 new cases in the seven-county district.

47 COVID patients were hospitalized.
