Vanderburgh County has recorded more than 200 new COVID cases in a single day, while the death toll climbs in western Kentucky.
The Indiana State Department of Health tallied 211 new infections in Vanderburgh County on its Monday dashboard.
The agency did not report any new COVID-related deaths in Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey, or Gibson counties.
70 new infections were recorded in Warrick, 54 in Gibson, and 23 in Posey.
The number of hospitalized COVID patients in southwest Indiana rose to 282, with less than 17 percent of intensive care beds available in the 12-county district.
Across Indiana, the department announced 27 new fatalities and more than 5,600 new cases.
The state has now topped 300,000 infections since March.
The Green River District Health Department reported two new COVID-related deaths in its seven-county region, one in Webster County and the other in McLean County.
The department added 131 new infections, with 55 COVID patients in the hospital.
