Vanderburgh Sees 2 More COVID Deaths, Sets One-Day Infection Record

Vanderburgh County has seen two more COVID-related deaths and a record jump in infections. 

The Indiana State Department of Health raised the county’s death toll to 111 and reported a single-day record of 186 new cases – pushing the infection total since March above 8,900.

No new COVID-related deaths were reported in Warrick, Posey, or Gibson counties. Warrick did see 66 new cases.

The number of COVID patients in the hospital rose to 279 in southwest Indiana’s 12-county district. The percentage of available intensive care beds fell below 18 percent.

Statewide, the agency announced 63 new fatalities and more than 6,900 new infections on its Friday dashboard.

In western Kentucky, the Green River District Health Department reported 137 new cases – 92 of them in Daviess County.

No new deaths were recorded in the seven-county district. The number of hospitalized COVID patients fell to 54.
