Three more COVID-related deaths are reported in Vanderburgh County and western Kentucky, while the surge in infections continues.
The Indiana State Department of Health announced Vanderburgh’s 108th fatality in its Wednesday report.
The agency also reported another triple-digit increase in the county’s infections, topping 8,600 since mid-March.
No new COVID-related deaths were recorded in Warrick, Posey, or Gibson counties.
The number of hospitalized COVID patients in the 12-county district of southwest Indiana rose to 260, with just 16 percent of intensive care beds available.
Statewide, the COVID-19 death toll rose by 60 to more than 4,800. The agency reported more than 6,100 new infections.
Two new COVID-related deaths were reported in western Kentucky.
The Green River District Health Department recorded one new fatality in Daviess County and another in Hancock County.
The Daviess County death toll reached 40.
152 new infections were reported in the seven-county district, with the number of COVID patients in the hospital up to 54.
