Vanderburgh County has seen four more COVID-related deaths and set another record for new infections.
The Indiana State Department of Health announced the four fatalities on its Friday dashboard, pushing Vanderburgh County’s pandemic death toll to 88.
The county also saw a single-day record of 181 new cases.
No new COVID-related deaths were reported in Warrick, Posey, or Gibson counties, but all three saw significant infection increases – including 75 in Warrick County.
The number of hospitalized COVID patients in southwest Indiana rose to 175, with the percentage of available intensive care beds down to about 14 percent in the 12-county region.
The state of Indiana recorded 37 new fatalities, pushing Indiana’s pandemic death toll above 4,300.
The state also set another single-day record for new infections, more than 4,700.
Meanwhile, two more COVID-related deaths were reported in western Kentucky.
The Green River District Health Department said the new fatalities were in Hancock and McLean counties.
The department announced 69 new infections, including 27 in Daviess County and 21 in Henderson County.
