An insurance company is providing a boost to the Tri-State Food Bank.
In a release, the Food Bank says a collaboration with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield will “significantly increase” the food bank’s Mobile Food Distribution Program in Indiana and Kentucky over the next three years.
The food bank says Anthem’s sponsorship will benefit an estimated 15,000 households and provide nearly 500,000 meals.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Food Bank Executive Director Glenn Roberts said the war against hunger must be fought on several fronts, including by mobile food distributions to reach people who have little or no access to traditional food outlets.
He said the sponsorship from Anthem will allow the food bank to add 120 mobile food distributions in its nine Indiana counties and an additional 75 in its eight Kentucky counties.
