An Evansville recycling business is among eight recipients across Indiana to share $1 million in grant funding.
The Indiana Department of Environmental Management announced the grants as part of its Recycling Market Development Program to expand recycling efforts in the state.
In a release, IDEM said the Tri-State Resource Recovery Center on Morgan Avenue in Evansville was awarded $150,000 to purchase a specialized robotic system to process #5 plastic.
The agency said the new equipment should also recover 20% more of #2 plastic and additional 30% of #1 plastic.
The robotic system is expected to increase efficiency on the company’s sorting line.
