Almost two-thirds of faculty members at the University of Evansville have affirmed a no-confidence vote against UE’s president.
UE History Professor James McLeod tells WNIN the faculty vote was 89-34 with five abstentions.
It followed a 14-3 no confidence vote by the faculty senate earlier this month.
UE President Christopher Pietruszkiewicz has acknowledged that job cuts are likely as the university considers program changes amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
The faculty vote asks Pietruszkiewicz to respond within seven days. If he can't agree to the terms, the faculty senate wants a full written explanation.
Last month, many UE faculty members launched the “Save UE” movement and joined the American Association of University Professors, in an effort to have more of a voice in academic issues.
