COVID Surge Continues with Deaths in Vanderburgh, Posey, and Henderson Counties

More COVID-related deaths are reported in Vanderburgh, Posey, and Henderson counties.

The Indiana State Department of Health announced Vanderburgh County’s 36th COVID-related fatality and Posey County’s third.

The state agency also recorded 90 new coronavirus infections in Vanderburgh, and 31 new cases in Warrick County.

The number of new infections also rose significantly in Gibson and Posey counties, with 26 new cases in Gibson and 18 in Posey.

157 COVID patients were reported hospitalized in southwest Indiana. About 24 percent of intensive care beds were available.

The agency recorded 17 new fatalities across Indiana, pushing the state’s official total since March to 3,500.

More than 1,300 new infections were also reported statewide in the Wednesday report.

The Green River District Health Department reported another COVID-related death in Henderson County, raising that county’s toll to eleven.

The department recorded 60 new infections in the seven-county district, with 25 in Daviess County and 21 in Henderson County.

27 COVID patients were in the hospital.
