The state of Indiana has reported the first COVID-19 death in Posey County.
The Indiana State Department of Health recorded the fatality on its Tuesday dashboard.
Last summer, a COVID death was reported in Posey County in error. It was reassigned to another county.
The number of infections in Posey rose by eight to 354.
The post-Labor Day surge in new infections continued in Vanderburgh County with 58 reported on Tuesday.
Another 25 were added in Warrick County.
Statewide, Indiana recorded 20 new deaths and about 760 new infections.
In western Kentucky, the Green River Health District reported 57 new cases, with 18 in Henderson County, 17 in Union County, and eleven in Daviess County.
The seven-county district tallied 28 COVID patients in the hospital.
