With COVID case levels rising in Vanderburgh County, school officials talked about what measures might be needed during a virtual town hall Monday evening.
During the virtual town hall on Facebook Live, Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation Superintendent Dr. David Smith said he wouldn’t be surprised if Vanderburgh County’s coronavirus prevalence level is raised to orange when the weekly update is posted on the Indiana COVID dashboard on Wednesday.
Smith says raising the level to orange for the entire county probably won’t change in-person classroom instruction for the EVSC.
“We would anticipate everyone still attending school every day, adhering to those social distancing practices. But I would also ask, just as we do during inclement weather season, that parents have an alternative plan in place.”
Dr. Smith says that the EVSC is providing the state with requested data on the incidence of COVID in schools here. That information could start being released on the state’s dashboard, also as early as Wednesday.
