Vectren’s parent company is switching to electric fleet vehicles.
CenterPoint Energy announced the goal of replacing all of its light-duty electric service vehicles, such as cars, vans and SUVs, with electric-powered vehicles in Evansville and Houston, Texas.
In a release, the Texas-based company said it hopes to have all the electric vehicles rolling by 2030.
CenterPoint Senior Vice President Kenny Mercado said the company been offsetting its carbon footprint and promoting cleaner air by replacing fossil-fueled vehicles and equipment with alternative power choices since 2011.
The company said it hopes to replace 5 percent of its heavy-duty vehicles by 2025 and 10 percent by 2030.
CenterPoint said its emission reduction goals will be re-evaluated as the market evolves.
