COVID Forces Memorial High School Online

An Evansville High School has gone virtual, due to a COVID-19 outbreak.

In a release, the Catholic Diocese of Evansville said Memorial High School has moved to virtual classes for this week as a result of six positive infections.

The Diocese said the cases have resulted in a significant number of students having to quarantine as close contacts.

Officials called the decision to move to online-only classes “proactive.”

They said it’s based on “the health and safety of the Memorial family in an effort to mitigate the risk of further spread.”

Memorial said it’s worked closely with the Vanderburgh County Health Department and has been reassured that the mitigation factors in place within the school setting are appropriate.

The Diocese said any opportunities to improve the policy would be implemented.

More: The switch to online learning followed word last week that at least two Memorial volleyball matches had been cancelled.
