Drive-Up, Walk-Up COVID Test Site Opening in Mt. Vernon

File

A new COVID testing site is coming to Posey County.

Deaconess Health and the Posey County Health Department will jointly open a drive-through/walk-through site at 232 W. 2nd Street, near Mill St., in Mt. Vernon.

The testing site opens Tuesday – the day after Labor Day – and will provide testing six days a week.

Hours will vary and the site will be closed on Sundays.

Appointments can be made online at www.deaconess.com/testing.

Like recently announced efforts in Evansville, the testing in Mt. Vernon is the result of a grant from the Indiana State Department of Health.

The grant allows for testing – and possible administration of a vaccine if it becomes available -- through June 2021.

Patients will be able to receive test results through the Deaconess MyChart app. Those without a MyChart account will receive phone calls if results are positive.

Educational materials in both English and Spanish are available at the testing sites.
