dvids.org

The 75th anniversary of the end of World War Two is Tuesday.

The campaigns of the battleship U.S.S. Indiana in the Pacific during World War Two carry many familiar names, like Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Iwo Jima and Okinawa.

After the war, the Indiana was scrapped in the early 1960’s, but a song created by the ship’s band lives on.

It's called "Here Comes the Indiana" In looking for ways to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the end of World War Two, the song was rediscovered by the U.S. Pacific Fleet Band, which performed the rendition of the song in the video link with this story.  The is more information on the U.S.S. Indiana available on the Naval History and Heritage Command website.
