The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation has adjusted its COVID 19 protocols.
During its Thursday evening podcast, the EVSC said the changes reflect new guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
One change says students with body aches or runny, stuffy noses no longer have to stay home.
Ashley Libbert of the Vanderburgh County Health Department said another change involves close contact with an infected person.
She said six feet for 15 minutes still applies but the time can now be cumulative…
"So it could be 5 minutes here, five minutes there, another five minutes here. So it's not just a set, one-time period of 15 minutes."
Libbert also said a change affects brothers and sisters of students who become infected…
"If a student starts to develop sysmptoms throughout the day and they get sent home, those syblings will have to go home as well, until an alternative diagnosis is received or there is a negative test."
During the podcast, EVSC Superintendent David Smith praised a move by the state of Indiana to establish a color-coding system to help guide schools through the pandemic.
