The University of Evansville has received some coronavirus aid from the state of Indiana.
UE says its School of Education received a grant of more than $735,000 from the Governor's Emergency Education Relief fund – or GEER.
In a release, the private school said it will focus on implementing two main initiatives: a free community tutoring program for students and professional development for teachers and students.
UE says it will partner with seven southern Indiana school corporations, including the Catholic Diocese of Evansville, Warrick County Schools, and Tell City Schools.
The university said grant activities will also be open to in-service teachers and students in K-12 corporations throughout Southern Indiana.
Monies from the grant will also be used to boost in-service as well as remote and virtual instruction.
UE says more than $61 million in GEER funding was distributed to educational agencies and institutions across Indiana.
