Two Students Test Positive; Classes Continue at Catholic Schools

Classes continue in the Evansville Catholic Diocese after two students tested positive for the coronavirus.

In a statement, the Diocese Education Office said the students tested positive at one of the area’s Catholic schools that returned to classes last week.

The diocese says school officials reported the tests to the county health department, identified and contacted potential close contacts with the students, and asked them to self-quarantine.

Officials are not saying which school the students attended.

The Diocese said classes are continuing this week, following the approval of health department officials.

The Catholic Education Office is urging parents to screen students daily before they arrive for classes, and it urges school staff to self-screen daily before arriving.

Students or staff who are not feeling well or are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 should stay home and contact their health providers.
