Panther Creek Bridge Reopens After 2nd Crash

File

A western Kentucky bridge has reopened following two damaging crashes in two years.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says crews have reopened the Panther Creek Bridge in Daviess County, after it survived a second crash in as many years.

An oversized truck hit the bridge on May 18, and inspectors originally determined it would need to be replaced.

But additional conversations among engineers resulted in a solution to address the repairs and hopefully avoid another strike on the members atop the truss bridge along KY 81.

Jim Smith Contracting performed the work for about $240,000.

In August 2019, the Panther Creek Bridge was damaged by a truck carrying a load of metal.
