Local 2020 graduates finally received their recognition during virtual graduation ceremonies.
The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation conducted the online commencement ceremonies Tuesday evening.
In a typical year, the graduates would have received their diplomas in May on a stage in front of thousands of people – but 2020 has been anything but typical.
The COVID-19 pandemic forced the EVSC to postpone the in-person commencement ceremonies to July, and then a surge in cases scuttled those plans.
Schools participating in Tuesday’s ceremonies included Bosse, Central, Harrison, North and Reitz high schools, along with the Academy for Innovative Studies, New Tech Institute, Harwood Career Preparatory, and the Virtual Academy.
The ceremonies were posted on YouTube.
