Federal funding has been renewed to help homeless veterans in the Evansville area.

In a release, ECHO Housing Corporation says the U.S. Department of Labor chose ECHO as one of 157 organizations across the country to receive funding for the Homeless Veteran Reintegration Program.

ECHO will receive more than $186,000 a year for three years to renew what it calls a “vital community program” it’s operated locally since 2012.

The housing corporation says it’s helped more than 400 homeless veterans in gaining employment and permanent housing.

ECHO works with a network of governmental and community partners in the effort.
