Organizers of the Battle of the Fans: COVID-19 College Challenge originally set up a four week schedule for the contest, but a $10,000 matching gift prompted them to continue the effort to benefit the local COVID-19 Crisis Response Fund until 7pm central time Tuesday.
As of Tuesday morning, alumni of 21 colleges and universities had donated to the online contest. Wabash College led the individual school dollar amounts, while the University of Southern Indiana led by far in total contributions. The contest is tight. USI’s total raised is just $20 more than Purdue.
Proceeds from the Battle of the Fans go to the COVID-19 Crisis Response Fund of Greater Evansville Region which has raised over $5 million to help those affected by the pandemic.
