“It is pulled pork, bacon, shredded cheese, sour cream or ranch and barbecue sauce.”
Her family’s booth was one of fifty signed up to provide everything from food, to t-shirts, to census and voting information at the event on Waggoner Avenue on Evansville's South Side.
Billed as Evansville’s first annual Freedom Day celebration, co-organizer Mia Brown says the event was to promote peace and unity during a time of unrest.
“We want people to see our culture, welcome all other cultures in just to see what we celebrate. It’s something we’d like to continue.”
The event was scheduled to close out with a fireworks demonstration Saturday evening.
