The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed another summer festival in Evansville.
On its Facebook page, Germania Maennechor announced the 2020 Volksfest has been canceled due to the coronavirus.
The group which celebrates local German heritage said the decision was reached “after much consideration.”
Germania said there were “too many unknowns and issues,”
The group said proper social distancing, in particular, would be nearly impossible to maintain with such a large group.
The group said Volksfest 2021 is set for August 5-7 next year.
Concerns over COVID-19 have forced the cancellation of many events this summer, including Henderson’s Handy Blues Fest, ROMP in Owensboro, and Evansville’s Fourth of July fireworks display.
