Evansville restaurants can now apply to expand their seating.
The Evansville Restaurant Relief Program enables operators to expand outdoor dining areas onto existing property and public rights-of-way.
In a release, Mayor Winnecke’s office says indoor/outdoor restaurant seating will be limited to state-mandated capacities -- 50 percent before June 14 and 75 percent after June 14.
The city says no application or permit fees will be charged for review or approval, although fees otherwise charged for encroachment permits or review will not be waived.
Vanderburgh County Commissioner Jeff Hatfield said the program gives the local workforce the “tools to reopen responsibly" during the pandemic.

The temporary program ends after July 3, and is subject to change if additional protections and guidelines are put in place.
