The head of the Vanderburgh County Health Department says a report of a second local COVID 19 death was an error.
The Indiana State Department of Health reported a second fatality among 119 confirmed COVID 19 cases in Vanderburgh County.
But the county's health director, Joe Gries, said the death was not a Vanderburgh County resident.
Tuesday’s report also showed Warrick County’s death toll up to 13 out of 83 confirmed cases.
At least 12 deaths have been reported from Signature Healthcare in Newburgh.
One death has also been reported from another Newburgh facility, Hamilton Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center.
A press release from Hamilton Pointe said six of its residents and six of its staff tested positive for the coronavirus.
Indiana’s health department said the statewide death toll has increased by 31 to 844.
The number of confirmed cases approached 16,000.
No new cases were reported in Posey or Gibson counties.

The latest report from the Kentucky Department of Public Health shows 19 fatalities in Hopkins County out of 183 confirmed cases.
The death toll held at three in Daviess County and one in Henderson County.
Statewide, Kentucky has recorded 208 deaths.
The number of confirmed cases has topped 4,000.
