Deaconess Seeks Recovered COVID-19 Patients

People who have recovered from COVID-19 may be able to help those who get the disease.

Deaconess is asking for volunteers who have recovered from COVID-19 to consider donating blood to help treat current patients.

A release from Deaconess says someone who has recovered from COVID-19 has antibodies in their blood plasma. It’s called convalescent plasma and can be given to another patient to help fight a severe or life-threatening COVID-19 virus infection.

Convalescent plasma treatments have been used successfully during recent outbreaks of respiratory illnesses such as SARS, MERS and H1N1 flu.

If you believe you have recovered from COVID-19 and are interested in donating blood plasma, you can contact the COVID-19 Donor Line at Deaconess 812.426.9339 or online
