The COVID-19 pandemic has forced Toyota to extend its shutdown again.
On its website, Toyota said its manufacturing facilities – including the plant in Gibson County – will remain closed through May 1st.
The company blames the ongoing pandemic and subsequent decline in vehicle demand.
The new extension affects all Toyota automobile and components plants in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, with production now slated to resume May 4th.
The automaker said its service parts operations and finished vehicle logistics centers will continue to operate.
Toyota began its production shutdown March 23rd.
