Hospitals Raise Restrictions

File

Area hospitals are further restricting visitors.

In a release, Deaconess Health said inpatient facilities will no longer allow visitors, with a few exceptions.

Those exceptions include outpatient appointments, inpatient surgery on the day of surgery, pediatric units at Deaconess Gateway, the pediatric trauma unit at Deaconess Midtown, and end-of-life situations.

Deaconess said the temporary restrictions will help limit the spread of COVID-19, and prepare for what’s expected to be a significant increase in coronavirus patients.

St. Vincent and Methodist Health have announced similar restrictions.

Regional hospitals are expected to follow state and national recommendations for lifting the restrictions.

There’s no indication how long the measures will stay in effect.
