File

The coronavirus pandemic continues to impact businesses in the Evansville area.

Macy’s has announced it’s closing all of its stores nationwide, including the store at Eastland Mall, through March 31st to battle the spread of COVID-19.

In a news release, the store said its online sales will continue and it will offer benefits and compensation to affected workers.

Target has announced it’s reducing hours at all of its stores with closures at 9 p.m.

In a release, the Minnesota-based chain said the modified schedule will provide time to “replenish and deeply clean” its stores.

And Dollar General announced the first hour of each day is reserved for elderly residents.

In a release, the discount chain said it wants to provide at-risk customers an opportunity to shop at the beginning of the day to avoid busier and more crowded shopping periods.

Area grocery stores have battled to keep staples like bread and meat on the shelves.

Government officials have urged residents not to hoard.
